In this sweeping 20" x 60" original oil, John Horejs captures the desert at day’s end, when the sky ignites in bands of amber, coral, and soft violet. The last light settles behind distant mountain silhouettes, while cooler blues drift above, signaling the quiet arrival of evening. Saguaro cacti rise in dark, rhythmic silhouettes across the foreground, anchoring the composition and emphasizing the vastness beyond. Subtle atmospheric layers create a sense of depth and stillness, inviting the viewer into a fleeting moment of reflection. This panoramic work celebrates the calm, color, and expansive beauty of the Southwest as it transitions into night.
